How to choose a suitable outdoor cable gland in an extremely high or low temperature environment?
In extreme temperature environments (such as below - 40°C or above + 120°C), the temperature resistance of the material and the elasticity of the seal should be focused on:
Low temperature scenarios (such as the Arctic and high mountain wind power):
Choose nylon/polyamide materials (resistant to low temperatures up to - 40°C) with nitrile rubber (NBR) seals to avoid embrittlement of metal materials at low temperatures; ensure that the cable gland is marked with "low temperature impact resistance" certification.
High temperature scenarios (such as desert photovoltaics and engine compartments):
316 stainless steel (temperature resistance + 150°C) or glass fiber reinforced nylon (temperature resistance + 120°C) are preferred, and the seals need to use fluororubber (FKM), which has a temperature resistance range of - 20°C~+200°C and strong oil resistance.
Key indicators: Check the "operating temperature range" and "material thermal expansion coefficient" in the product specifications to ensure that the gland and the cable expand and contract synchronously to avoid sealing failure.
