Fire Resistant Stainless Steel Cable Tie
A Fire Resistant Stainless Steel Cable Tie is a metal fastening component made from stainless steel strip (typically SS304 or SS316) designed to bundle cables and maintain fixation under high temperature, flame exposure, or fire conditions.
How It Works (Locking Mechanism)
The cable tie uses a mechanical one-way locking system:
Stainless steel strap is wrapped around cable bundle or pipe
Free end is inserted into locking head
Ball or pawl mechanism engages serrations on the metal strip
Reverse movement is blocked, maintaining constant tension
This structure does not rely on polymer deformation, so it remains functional under fire conditions where plastic ties fail.
Stainless Steel vs Nylon Cable Ties
| Feature | Stainless Steel Tie | Nylon Tie |
|---|---|---|
| Fire resistance | Maintains structure | Melts at ~120°C |
| Tensile strength | High (metal-based) | Medium |
| Chemical resistance | High (SS316 best) | Limited |
| Electrical insulation | Requires coating | Naturally insulating |
| Cost level | Higher | Lower |
- Heavy-Duty Strength for Secure Fastening
Made from high-grade stainless steel, these cable ties provide superior tensile strength, ensuring reliable fastening for large bundles and demanding industrial applications.
- Excellent Corrosion & Weather Resistance
Resistant to rust, moisture, salt, and chemicals, making them suitable for harsh environments such as marine, outdoor, and chemical processing applications.

FAQ
What temperature can stainless steel cable ties withstand?
SS304/SS316 cable ties typically maintain structure under continuous temperatures up to 500°C, and can withstand short-term fire exposure up to ~800°C depending on conditions.
Are stainless steel cable ties reusable?
Most designs are single-use locking structures. Some releasable versions exist but are less common in fire safety applications.
Why are stainless steel cable ties used instead of plastic?
They are selected when fire resistance, high tensile strength, or chemical corrosion resistance is required, especially in industrial and infrastructure systems.
Can stainless steel cable ties damage cables?
Uncoated metal edges may damage cable jackets if improperly installed. Coated versions (PVC/epoxy) are used to reduce abrasion risk.
What is the difference between SS304 and SS316 cable ties?
SS316 contains molybdenum, improving resistance to saltwater and chemical corrosion, making it suitable for marine and offshore environments.
