When installing a 304 stainless steel L-shaped cable tie (such as a 100×100mm model), can I use ordinary wire cutters to cut off the excess tail? Will this damage the coating?

 

It can be cut with ordinary wire cutters, and proper handling will not damage the coating: ① Ensure the jaws are flush against the tail of the cable tie (avoiding areas with dense coating) when cutting, and apply force slowly to avoid "tearing" the cable tie. ② If there are slight burrs after cutting, gently press with the pliers to smooth them out. The polyester coating is 0.3mm thick (for the 100×100mm model) and has a certain degree of scratch resistance, so normal cutting will not cause the coating to flake off. If you want a smoother cut, you can also use a light tension tool (such as a cable tie cutter suitable for a 6-12mm width) to further reduce the risk of coating damage.

 

If an L-shaped polyester-coated cable tie is used to secure the wiring harness to a car door pillar, will the vibration from opening and closing the door over time cause the coating to wear?

 

It won't wear out easily, as the product has undergone special testing for vibration scenarios: ① The cable tie has passed 5,000+ vibration cycle tests according to the ISO 10816-3 standard. The 90° angle structure and double-lock ball design can reduce lateral displacement and prevent frequent friction between the coating and the metal surface of the doorpost. ② The polyester coating has passed ASTM G154 UV testing and abrasion resistance testing. In moderate vibration environments such as automotive doorposts, it can remain intact for 3-5 years of normal use without noticeable wear or peeling. A simple inspection every quarter is recommended. If local wear of the coating is found (area <5%), it will not affect the insulation and scratch resistance performance and does not require replacement.
