Metal Ties For Outdoor Cables
Metal ties for outdoor cables utilize three main base materials: 304 stainless steel, 316 stainless steel, and 316L stainless steel. Each material is optimized for specific application environments. 304 stainless steel (AISI 304/1.4301) contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel, forming a dense oxide film that easily resists corrosion from weak acids and bases (such as diluted sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid) and industrial atmospheres (containing sulfides and dust). It is suitable for general industrial environments and dry indoor applications.
Metal Ties for Outdoor Cables are available in three surface finishes: uncoated, PVC coated, and epoxy coated, to meet the specific needs of different applications. The uncoated product retains the natural metal color and offers the highest temperature resistance, with an operating temperature range of -80°C to +538°C, suitable for high-temperature environments such as engine compartments and industrial furnaces.
The PVC-coated product features a black PVC layer over the stainless steel base material, providing additional cable protection, with an operating temperature range of -60°C to +150°C, suitable for electrical applications requiring insulation protection. The epoxy-coated product uses an epoxy resin coating, also with an operating temperature range of -60°C to +150°C, and meets UL94 fire resistance standards and UV resistance requirements, making it particularly suitable for long-term outdoor exposure applications.

FAQ
How to choose between 304 and 316 stainless steel metal cable ties for outdoor use?
The core differentiating factor is the corrosion level of the operating environment. Neither is absolutely superior; their suitability depends on the specific application. You can choose based on the following criteria:
① 304 stainless steel: Suitable for general outdoor environments (such as inland areas, industrial areas without significant chemical pollution, and dry outdoor environments). It can withstand mild acid and alkali corrosion and dust erosion, offering high cost-effectiveness, making it the preferred choice for conventional outdoor cable fixing;
② 316 stainless steel: Suitable for medium to heavy corrosive environments (such as coastal/marine areas, chemical parks, high-humidity salt spray environments, and saline-alkali land). Due to the addition of molybdenum, its resistance to chloride ion corrosion and chemical corrosion is more than three times stronger than 304 stainless steel, resulting in a longer lifespan, but its cost is 20%-30% higher than 304.
